Clyde M. Siebman is founder and senior partner of the law firm Siebman, Burg, Phillips & Smith, LLP. He manages the firm's offices in Sherman and Plano.
Siebman is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Civil trial law is the practice of law dealing with the litigation of civil controversies in all areas of substantive law before state courts, federal courts, administrative agencies and arbitrators. Siebman concentrates his practice on assisting companies, firms and individuals in complex civil litigation in the areas of intellectual property, business and employment law in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Siebman began his federal practice serving as a law clerk to Senior United States District Judge Paul Brown. He rode the circuit with Judge Brown serving in the Sherman, Texarkana and Beaumont Divisions of the Eastern District of Texas. Siebman has appeared as counsel in over 325 cases in federal court in the Eastern District of Texas and has argued a number of cases at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Siebman is a frequent lecturer at seminars on topics ranging from federal court practice, business litigation, discovery and local practices in the Eastern District of Texas. Siebman is regularly requested to moderate judicial panels at seminars sponsored by the State Bar of Texas, Eastern District of Texas Bar Association and American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Siebman has served as a member of the Local Rules Advisory Committee, Non-Appropriated Fund Committee and U.S. Magistrate-Judge Merit Selection Committee for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He has served as a co-editor of O'Connor's Federal Forms*Civil Trials, a formbook on procedure in federal courts. Siebman is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory which indicates a legal ability rating of "very high to preeminent" and the highest ethical rating. He is listed in The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and has been recognized in the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 in Reuters Texas Super Lawyers publication.
Siebman founded the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association under the auspices of presiding U.S. District Judge Richard Schell in 1996. He served as its founding president and subsequently for an unprecedented four terms. Siebman is very active in Texas public affairs and currently serves by way of gubernatorial appointment on the Board of Directors of the Red River Authority of Texas. He is a former member of the Red River Boundary Commission, State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and the Presidential Electoral College of the United States .
Siebman is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas . He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Cox School of Business and Juris Doctor from the Dedman School of Law from which he graduated as a Hatton W. Sumners Law Scholar. He was a member of SMU's National Moot Court Team that advanced to national competition in 1983. Siebman also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SMU which he received with distinction.
Married to Judge Carol Siebman, who is serving her fourth four year term as a County Court at Law Judge in Grayson County , the couple have one daughter, age 24. Siebman is a Texas history buff and enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors whenever time permits. The Siebman family is an East Texas pioneer family.
